RU Ready

Created by the Eagleton Institute of Politics in 2007, RU Ready is a civic education initiative providing high school and middle school students with the motivation and the civic, political, and expressive tools they need to address public problems in their community. Rutgers University–New Brunswick undergraduate students involved in RU Ready play a central role in bringing the lessons of the program to students across the state by serving as trained facilitators. Based solely at New Brunswick High School from its inception in 2007, RU Ready now hosts free in-person RU Ready Civics Fairs at partner middle and high schools to engage students in different facets of civic engagement. In addition to the Civics Fairs, RU Ready holds a day-long "Young Leaders Conference" at Rutgers–New Brunswick for a selection of high school students. The conference furthers the lessons presented in the classroom, connects students to local leaders, and points young people in the direction of future political engagement.
